Trivia Question
Sunday, February 28, 2010
Which family at HCC has a son who punched his brother and then recited his version of Luke 6:31, “Do unto others as they have done unto you”? The answer is…the Deschand family! Gotcha, Garrett!
Fundraisers to Help Bring Cia Ping
home
Thursday, February 25, 2010
God has put it on the hearts of Mike and Tanya Lee to once again adopt a little girl from China. Along with sons Jake and Nick, as well as adopted daughters, Shelby and Anna, Cai Ping will soon be added to the Lee nest. A couple of fundraisers are underway to help with costs.
Two quilts, created by Tanya herself, are on display and ready to be raffled. One is located at Frozen Alchemy in Battle Ground Village, which is the frozen custard shop. The other quilt is in the Old Town Battle Grounds Coffeehouse. The cost is $10 for one ticket or three for $25.00. The raffle will be held at the end of the month, so don’t delay - time is running out! Tickets can be purchased at the display locations or at Hockinson Community Church, located at 15918 NE 182nd Avenue in Hockinson, WA. Phone number is 256-4421. Office hours are 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. week days.
Another fundraiser is the dinner/gospel sing hosted by our JV teens on March 20th. Contact Iris Wellman for the details. You can also click on fueling-up-the-spirit. Y’all come on out, ya hear?
Hockinson High Senior to Organize Fundraiser
Wednesday, February 10, 2010
Colby Rascol, a senior at Hockinson High School, is organizing a fundraiser for none other than our own Luke Jensen. Luke, grandson to Pastor Mike and Lar White, is still under medical care for and recovering from leukemia.
As his senior project, Colby is collecting favorite local recipes to create and sell cookbooks. The proceeds from sales will then go to the Jensen family.
He is accepting recipes as well as pre-orders for the cookbook through the end of February. Colby is ”still working on some of the details” such as cost and completion date. He encourages interested parties to contact him personally. His email address is colbyraskull1991@gmail.com . His cell phone number is 360-213-8181.
Visit our website again or call the Hockinson Community Church office any week day between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to find out more information as details become available.
Karl Johnson Named Teacher of the
Year
One of our very own at HCC was named Teacher of the Year by Battle Ground Chamber of Commerce. He was among seven people honored by the Chamber of Commerce at its “2009 Recognitions of the Year” banquet on Jan. 29. Karl Johnson, who teaches all core subjects to a 7th-8th grade alternative class at Maple Grove Middle School, was named Teacher of the Year. See full press release at www.bgsd.k12.wa.us.
Babies, Babies, Babies!
Friday, January 29, 2010
Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from Him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. (Psalm 127:3 - 5a).
HCC is definitely a supporter of full quivers! On Sunday, January 24, 2010, we pledged, as a body of believers, to walk alongside six families as they each celebrated the precious gift of new life bestowed upon them by our Heavenly Father. At the front of the congregation, along with their parents, were:
Brooklyn Marie Corey
Isaiah Scott Gross
Michael Lee Hardy
Charley Reese Johnson
Ella Victoria White
Austin Watson.
Afterwards, there was a shower for baby girl Charley Reese Johnson. Our nursery is definitely busy - it’s a good thing!
